"To provide Nigerian youths with the proper environment and support to achieve their God given potential in international sports, while bringing honour and glory to our fatherland and to foster goodwill and the true spirit of comradeship among former Nigerian sportsmen and women all over the world."

Our mission is driven by our past experiences as competitive athletes and a strong conviction that if we play our part to support, care for and protect Nigeria's young and vulnerable athletes, they will train with enthusiasm, compete with unmatched determination, win numerous international laurels and transform Nigeria into a sporting powerhouse around the world. The NIAA is eager and willing to work with sports organizations, associations, individuals and corporate bodies anywhere in the world to achieve its mission.

Planned Programs

The NIAA is currently developing the policies and procedures for implementing the following programs.

  • Procure and send sports equipment to Nigeria for distribution to athletes who need them for training.
  • Invite world class coaches to Nigeria annually to conduct coaching clinics for athletes and coaches in their chosen sport.
  • Obtain University admission and scholarships for qualified Nigerian athletes of all sports in American Universities.
  • Organize Seminars for Nigerian sports administrators in USA and Nigeria.
  • Work in close cooperation with the Ministry of Sports, national sports associations, and State Sports Councils to develop high caliber athletes in the country.
  • Work in conjunction with the Ministry of Sports the University authorities and the Nigerian Universities Commission to establish an enabling environment for athletes to combine their academic pursuits with competitive sports.
  • Award scholarships to qualified athletes in Nigerian institutions of learning.
  • Provide funds to help athletes who are traveling overseas for training or competition, as needed.
  • Organize and sponsor sports competitions in Nigeria in collaboration with the national governing body of the particular sport.

We are not under the illusion that these goals will be achieved overnight. However, we all agree that Nigeria abounds with talent. Therefore, the NIAA is determined to use its resources, influence and contacts to ensure that Nigeria becomes one of the greatest sporting nations of the world.
